"FIMPV Jovens Intérpretes" Results Announcement

The Póvoa de Varzim International Music Festival (FIMPV) launched this year, regarding its 43rd edition, an initiative entitled “FIMPV Jovens Intérpretes”. The objective was to help minimize the scarcity of opportunities for young Portuguese artists in the midst of the pandemic, emerging as an incentive to continue fighting for a career in the world of music.

Under the sponsorship of the Directorate-General for the Arts and the Póvoa de Varzim City Council, this initiative will give the young Portuguese musicians the opportunity to play in the FIMPV, at the concert on July 20, 2021. In addition to these entities, the contest featured also with the support of the Póvoa de Varzim Lions Club, which for the first time joins the FIMPV. According to its president, José Manuel Almeida, “this new partnership turns out to be a natural link between two entities that move towards common values ​​in favor of the service, support and dynamization of the local community”. On the part of the Póvoa de Varzim Pro-Music Association, the FIMPV organizing entity that also manages the Póvoa de Varzim Music School, Raúl da Costa said that “this link with the Póvoa de Varzim Lions Club is a source of pride and great satisfaction and will allow for a significant increase in support for young winning artists and will also be a platform for future support initiatives ”.

The list of award winners has already been announced, namely:

Agostinho Sequeira, solo percussion (Póvoa de Varzim Lions Club Award)

Pedro Borges, piano

Mariana Ribeiro, piano

RePercussion Trio, percussion trio

The event was attended by about 40 portuguese musicians and chamber music groups from different instruments, with the total amount of prizes distributed by the winners of more than 4000 euros.

The panel of judges was in charge of André Cunha Leal (RTP Antena 2, RTP Palco); João Marques (executive (1979-2018) and artistic (1989-2018) direction of FIMPV; Raquel Camarinha (soprano) and Raúl da Costa (pianist, artistic director and general coordinator of FIMPV).

The 43rd edition of FIMPV is scheduled for next July and will take place in multiple spaces and churches in the municipality of Póvoa de Varzim.

Jovens Intérpretes

O Festival Internacional de Música da Póvoa de Varzim, com o alto patrocínio da Direção-Geral das Artes e da Câmara Municipal da Póvoa de Varzim, apresenta uma nova iniciativa para a sua edição deste ano.O “FIMPV Jovens Intérpretes” é um novo desafio que dará aos jovens músicos portugueses a oportunidade de atuar no FIMPV. Esta iniciativa, que conta também com o apoio do Lions Clube da Póvoa de Varzim, assume-se como um incentivo ao surgimento de novos talentos do mundo da música.Nos dois concertos a acontecer no dia 20 de julho de 2021, cada parte será interpretada por um dos candidatos ao prémio, perfazendo no total 4 concorrentes ou agrupamentos premiados. Cada músico ou agrupamento (até 3 intérpretes) selecionado fará parte da equipa artística do Festival, na interpretação de uma das partes do concerto (35-45min). O concerto será gravado ao vivo, e uma gravação profissional será também disponibilizada aos artistas.Os músicos selecionados receberão os seguintes honorários pela interpretação do concerto: Solista (1.000,00€); Duo (1.500,00€) e Trio (1.800,00€).As inscrições terminam a 23 de abril e os interessados devem consultar oRegulamento disponível.
